Results of CIHR Fall 2017 Project Scheme and Bridge Grants Competition

CIHR’s Project Grant Fall 2017 Competition has approved 512 research grants (overall success rate of 15%), plus an additional 33 bridge grants, for a total investment of approximately $372 million.  Of the 512 project grants, 123 were awarded to new/early career investigators, and 22 were awarded for Indigenous health research projects.  The average grant size/duration is approximately $720,534 over 4.38 years.

Hamilton’s Success Rate

  • 13% of Ontario’s $145 million is dedicated to support health research at McMaster University (receiving $19 million)
  • of that $19 million, 19% or $3.7 million, is awarded to investigators conducting research at Hamilton Health Sciences
