It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Heather Arthur, retired chief scientific officer at Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) and long-time professor with the School of Nursing at McMaster University. Dr. Arthur was a pioneer in cardiac rehabilitation research in Canada and was instrumental in the development of the cardiac & vascular nursing science unit within the cardiac and vascular program at HHS. This unit partners with nurse-scientists at the McMaster School of Nursing and has a focus on cardiovascular health. With a patient and family perspective, nurses provide important feedback and input in the research process.

Due to this work as well as her internationally-renowned accomplishments, Dr. Arthur was recently honoured with a new endowed chair at McMaster University, The Heather M. Arthur Population Health Research Institute/Hamilton Health Sciences Chair in Inter-Professional Health Research.
