Ing Collins, pharmacist at the Juravinski Cancer Centre was presented with the Joan K. Mauer Assurance QA Award in recognition of exceptional dedication as a member of the Canadian Cancer Trials Group’s (CCTG) Auditing and Monitoring Committee and CCTG Pharmacists Network Steering Committee. Ing received the award for dedication and volunteerism ensuring trial integrity.
To better understand the scope of the field of potential award winners, it is important to know that the US. National Cancer Institute (NCI) is one of the Institutes of the National Institute of Health (NIH). Within the NCI, one of the largest portfolios is the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Programme (CTEP). CTEP funds the US cancer cooperative group system, which conducts numerous cancer clinic trials. Because of its alignment, CTEP also funds NCIS CTG (now referred to as the Canadian Cancer Trials Group or CCTG) to conduct trials in Canada led by US groups, and for Canadian leadership of trials that will be conducted in the US.
CTEP provides two awards per year: one award goes to a physician and the other, is presented to a non-physician. Congratulations to Ing for this high praise and well deserved acknowledgement!
