The results from thirty years of painstaking research on the prevention of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) has led to being named top Canadian recipients of the Prix Galien Canada Research award for Drs’ Warkentin and Kelton-both clinicians for HHS as well as professors of medicine at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University.

The Prix Galien Canada Research award is presented to the researcher or team of researchers who have made the most significant contribution to research in Canada. Researchers had to be involved for at least five years in research leading or making a substantial contribution to the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease.

Congratulations to both doctors for the award and for the many lives saved because of their devotion to their research!
